It's time to start your adventure in Samana
Samana is a peninsula full of beatifull beaches and natural scenery. Santa Barbara (downtown Samana) is a Bahia with a “malecon” and a beautifull view to the sea where the “cayos” can be seing linked by a bridge.
Las Galeras is located in the extreme north-east of the Samaná Peninsula, about 28 km separate it from Santa Bárbara, capital of the province. The road ends here, on the same beach, giving the impression of reaching a refuge under the cover of all the noise in the world, to a place where peace is absolute.
Four houses hugging the palm trees, the white sand beach, the fishermen’s boats scattered by the limpid waters, the little key in the middle of the bay, the beach bars where they cook the fresh fish of the day and a sea with all the shades of blue and green. Las Galeras is all here.
“One day, not too far away, the money from the big hotel companies will come and it will end, but now let’s enjoy life”, this is what Westerners established here seem to think. And perhaps the same tourists who come to Las Galeras think the same, marveling at this spectacular bay, with a sea illuminated by golden rays of a sun that plays among the clouds.
In Las Galeras there are no travel or excursion agencies, you have to manage on your own. In the hotels, mostly family-type or slightly larger, they will help and advise you on everything you need for your vacation. At the same time they will offer you excursions, on foot or on horseback, diving in warm and transparent waters, and splendid days on the nearby beaches. In the surroundings of Las Galeras are some of the pearls of the Samaná Peninsula: Playa Rincón, Playa Madama, Playa Frontón …
