It's time to start your adventure in Samana

Samana is a peninsula full of beatifull beaches and natural scenery.  Santa Barbara (downtown Samana) is a Bahia with a “malecon” and a beautifull view to the sea where the “cayos” can be seing  linked by a bridge.

Capital of the province, Santa Bárbara boasts of a splendid geographical situation. Surrounded by very green and gentle hills, it seems to want to embrace its beautiful Bay, from where, just upon arrival, you can see the famous Cayo Levantado, a small islet surrounded by calm blue-green waters, which make the perfect contrast with the white sand that borders it .

Santa Bárbara de Samaná was built in 1756 by the Spanish brigadier Francisco Rubio Peñaranda, who was then governor of the island. At the beginning of the 20th century, a fire destroyed all its beautiful colonial architecture. Today this modern and flirtatious city grows parallel to its bay and the huge bridge built by the dictator Trujillo, which follows the horizon and offers uninterrupted fun for children and adults. Above you can see an urban anachronism, a piece out of place. It is a temple brought from England to house the Methodist community. The name by which the Samanes have baptized it, La Churcha, from the English “church”, will give you an idea of Dominican humor.

The main tourist attraction of this city resides, however, in the visit it receives every year during the months of January to March: that of the humpback whales, an unprecedented and surprising parade that catches experts and laymen.

The interest recently expressed by important investors has awakened a city, which until a few years ago seemed abandoned to itself. Three recently restored hotels, one of which in Cayo Levantado, a Shopping Center by the sea, the project of a port and a marina nearby … not to mention the many real estate projects for the construction of villas, apartments , shops …

The future comes to this city that already had a physique and today seems to finally find its soul.
